Overview

text-to-cad is an open-source plugin and skill set that gives coding agents (it supports Grok, Gemini, Cursor, Codex and Claude Code) a local CAD workflow. The agent can export parts in common formats such as STEP, STL, GLB and 3MF, check them for manufacturability and create engineering drawings. It can also send parts to services for printing, sheet-metal work and CNC machining, and runs through uv with a local viewer server. It sends anonymous usage stats and crash reports by default; run "uvx cadgen telemetry off" to turn them off.
