Overview

sweet-search is an Apache-2.0 command-line tool that indexes a code repository on your machine and gives coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and opencode a set of search tools to use in place of grep and file reads. It offers keyword, semantic and call-trace search and keeps the index current as you edit, including uncommitted changes. Everything runs locally, with no API keys or cloud service. It can also run as an MCP server and give delegated agents a ranked map of the repository. Setting it up replaces Claude Code's main agent and built-in subagents in your project's .claude folder, so commit your work first.

Key features

  • Six tools, including semantic and call-trace search
