Overview

GitHits is a service that lets coding agents look things up in an index of public repositories, docs and package metadata that tracks versions. An agent can map a package or repo name to the right target, search code and symbols, grep for exact text across a repository, and read documentation through MCP, a command-line tool or an API. The aim is for agents to pick, use, fix and update the libraries they depend on from real source rather than memory. Setup runs from one npx command that configures your coding tools.
