Dot

Dot does the research, Grok Bot does the approved work

Your Dot researches and drafts, then hands off for approval.

Overview

This recipe gives your ChatGPT Dot one lane: research, thinking and first drafts. Each finished item is saved as its own document in a shared Google Drive folder, where a Grok Bot reviews it and does nothing until you approve. On day one you set the Dot's Custom rules for each kind of action, choosing whether it proceeds freely, proceeds when cleared in advance, checks with you or passes the task to you, and you give it one small scheduled job. It comes from one user's published setup, not an official guide.

Goal Prompt

Goal Prompt
Do the research and first drafts for each item I hand you, and save each one as a separate doc in our shared Google Drive folder for review. Don't send, post, buy or delete anything. Each morning, review my calendar.

Step prompts by @CleanFix_Dev, word for word:

1. Give each assistant a lane
1) Give each a lane.
Dot: research, thinking, first drafts.
Grok Bot: doing the work inside my accounts and tools, with approval.
Decide the split before you start.

2. Set up the Dot
2) Dot setup: create it in the ChatGPT desktop app or desktop web, name it, connect only the apps you need, let it introduce itself. Then you can message or call it on mobile.

3. Give it a goal and one scheduled job
3) Dot: hand it a goal, not a prompt. OpenAI's example: give it an interview transcript, get show notes and social drafts, and your edits carry across the drafts.
4) Schedule one small job: "Review my calendar each morning."

4. Set Custom rules
5) Dot: set Custom rules on day one. Per action: act without asking, act if pre-approved, ask first, or hand off to you. Its profile shows In progress, Scheduled, Completed, and its computer.

5. Bridge to the Grok Bot
9) Build a bridge so they share the load. The dot does heavy research and drafts, saved as one doc per item in a shared Drive folder. Grok Bot checks it and acts only after I say yes. Watching limits? Hand heavy work to the second model.

Integrations

Posts 6 to 8 of the thread cover the Grok Bot side (skills, routines and approval before anything goes out); see the thread for those.
