Overview

Mudroom puts a coding agent such as Codex, Claude Code, Aider, opencode or Gemini CLI inside a Linux micro-VM, where it edits a cheap copy-on-write duplicate instead of your actual project folder. Network access is limited to hosts you allow. When the agent finishes, you read the diff and choose to apply everything, selected files, selected hunks or nothing, and you can undo an apply later. It has a macOS app and CLI for Apple silicon on macOS 26, plus a command-line version for Windows, Linux and Intel Macs that relies on Docker or Podman. It is an early prototype, and its install script removes the macOS quarantine flag, so read the script first.

Key features

  • One Linux micro-VM per session on Apple silicon
  • Agent edits a clone, never your real folder
  • Allow-list for network hosts
  • Apply or undo changes by file or hunk
  • Docker or Podman backend on Linux and Windows
