Methods
Use AI to pick, budget and lay out a trip in five stages, then check facts before booking
Steps
- Pick a destination: if you have none, give an AI your home city, trip length, companions, budget and interests, and ask it for a few candidate places then a rough weekend outline for the top pick.
- Sanity-check costs: have it split the trip into cost categories with low and high estimates, then look up the two largest items yourself and feed real prices back in.
- Lay out each day: ask for a three-part plan for every day with transport, lodging, food and daily spend, adjusting for kids, work trips or road trips, and slow down crowded days.
- Plan meals by dish, not by name: ask which local foods to try and what kind of place serves them, then choose actual restaurants from recent map reviews.
- Pack and check paperwork: generate a packing list suited to the climate and what you will do, add a documents checklist, and confirm visa rules on official government sites.
- Optional: The source also has a short pre-booking checklist (prices, opening hours, entry rules, restaurant reviews, an offline copy) and a prompt for each step; see the link.
- Note: Our own-words summary of PromptUp's five steps, in its order; the full guide is at the source link. AI is unreliable on live prices, opening hours, visa rules and named restaurants, so check those yourself before you book.
